The ‘Architecture MArch at LJMU’ video on the postgraduate course page does not include an audio description provided, making it inaccessible for users with visual impairments and there is no statement to inform deaf people that there is background music only.
Users who have difficulty understanding the meaning of visual content can read this at their own pace and deaf users can read text.
For another issue related to audio description, see Embedded videos do not use audio descriptions or text transcripts (H) .
Recommendation
If you intend to use video on your site, you must provide an alternative for time-based media that presents the equivalent information for the video content, including text transcript, subtitles and audio description. This should include an accurate and complete description of the audio content including all speech, identify all speakers and describe any other meaningful sounds.
For this video, there are three pieces of information that need to be audio described:
- University name (LJMU)
- Postgraduate profiles
- the course that the talking head is on (in this case Michael)

Where background music is implemented without any spoken audio, there needs to be a caption or note to say “playing background music only”
