13.3.1 WCAG 1.3.1 (A), 3.3.2 (A) - Desktop

The ‘Arch’ student accommodation page includes a map with the location of the accommodation pinned on the map. However, the address details are not provided to the user visually and when the user navigates to this element using screen reader it is announced as ‘The arch button’ which does not provide the user with any additional information on the location details.

13.3.2 Recommendation

To provide users with additional information visually and programmatically, consider the following:

  • A descriptive heading before the map iFrame which describes the purpose of the map.
  • Visually provide the user with the address details and ensure the map iFrame includes a title attribute so this information is also provided to screen reader users.
