6.8 Image alt text is the same as adjacent headings (L)

6.8.1 WCAG 1.1.1 (A), 1.3.1 (A) - Desktop, Mobile

There are several decorative images on the Home page that have been assigned alt text. However, the alt text does not convey any additional information that isn’t available elsewhere on the page and is therefore redundant.

In this instance, the alt text mirrors the adjacent text headings, resulting in content being repeated to screen reader users, which could be irritating to these users. Same issue as Decorative images are announced by screen readers (M)

6.8.2 Recommendation

For decorative images that do not convey additional information, assign a null alt text- alt="".
